10 month update

Madeline is 10 months old today. What a great month it's been! She's now standing unsupported for small stretches. She has learned how to wave, and she waves to anyone and everyone. She likes to drink out of a straw. We introduced formula into her diet a couple weeks ago, but she still prefers breastmilk. She is sitting up on her knees a lot. She has 4 teeth on top and 2 on bottom, and she makes an eerie noise when she grinds them together. Her motto is play hard, sleep hard:
What awesome eyebrows:A cute profile pic:
Fun with the laundry basket (again):

Mississippily

Madeline stood up on her own for 11 seconds today, even counting 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, etc. I just watched the Friends episode where Ross goes to a spray-on tanning place and gets a really messed up tan because he counts counts way too slowly (he counted Mississippily). Remember than one Aunt Jenn?!

Also, Madeline got an exciting new toy in the mail today! It's a little lion toy that she can push around, and it plays some awesome music when you bop it on the nose. Madeline was standing up and basically dancing to it, smiling up a storm!
Then she starting making this pose for the camera:
What a cute little pucker!

The 100th post

Can you believe it? 100 posts! If I was rich and famous, I'd be announcing some cool giveaway :) But I'm not rich or famous, so I'll announce that Madeline took her first bath in the actual tub tonight (not her baby tub). She LOVED it! She mostly liked standing up and banging on the side of the tub, which made Daddy pretty nervous:
This is her best Elvis impersonation:
Now she's puckering up for the camera!

Shamrocks, leprechauns, and sippy cups

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We had a wonderful day today. The plan was to go to the parade in Dogtown, but I started to hyperventilate thinking about all the traffic, parking issues, and fighting our way through the crowd with a stroller. So then the plan was to go to the zoo, but the parking for the parade flowed over to the streets around the zoo. So finally, we just drove a little farther and walked around Forest Park for an hour. It was a beautiful day! On another subject, Madeline tried out a sippy cup for the first time today. She mostly preferred to chew on it, but she did drink some of the water :)

Turning the page

Usually when we read to Madeline, she participates by placing the book in her mouth. But today she found a new way to help. She can turn the page! It is super cute, but she enjoys turning the page so much that you don't have time to read more than a few words on each page :)

Toofer number free

Madeline's third tooth popped up this morning. It's her top front left one. In other news, the weather was AWESOME today in St. Louis! The temperature got into the 70's, and we went on 2 walks. The dogs have been conked out on the couch for a couple hours already. I guess all the fresh air wore out Maddie too. Here she is bouncing in her jumper while we watch Wheel of Fortune (notice her cute new socks):
Mommy, I'm not tired. I just need to rest my head for a minute, it's getting pretty heavy.

The 10th dose

Apparently, for Madeline, the 10th dose is the charm. After 9 doses of fighting, squirming, squeezing the end of the syringe into her mouth, and getting half of it spewed back in my face... Maddie now almost enjoys her antibiotics. Last night, as we prepared for battle... Ed holding Madeline down and making sure her hands were tucked in tightly, I approached with the dreaded syringe of pink stuff. Amazingly, she just opened up her mouth and swallowed, bit-by-bit until the WHOLE 1.5 teaspoons were gone! We only spilled a couple drops out the side of her mouth. Then, this morning (certain that last night was a fluke), we mentally and physically prepared ourselves again... but she happily gobbled it down, we didn't even spill a drop! Yay Maddie (clap, clap, clap).
