7 month update

Madeline is now 7 months old! She recently has made exciting advancements in her motor skills. She sits up on her own, although she usually reaches for a toy and falls over fairly quickly. She gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth - very cute! She scoots herself backwards all over the place. She loves her jumparoo toy, and bouncing in general. She doesn't have any teeth yet (I'm not complaining). She has been eating all kinds of pureed vegetables and fruits, although she doesn't LOVE eating with a spoon. She has switched to mostly sleeping on her tummy. She loves to laugh, especially when Daddy startles or chases her. All in all, she is the best part of our lives and we love every second that she is with us! Here are some pictures from laundry night:
I did NOT volunteer for this! Our little Michael Jordan baby:

Sitting strong

Madeline can now sit unassisted... for more than just a few milliseconds. Although, one may argue that she is using the assistance of her mirror toy:

Baby's First Christmas

Today Madeline celebrated her first Christmas, and it was a white Christmas at that! We had a wonderful day hanging out with Granny and Poppy in St. Louis.
Thanks for the cool mailbox, Granny!
Tummy time is always a good time:

Surprise from Illinois

Today, Maddie got a great surprise from the mail man... some gifts (even wrapped up nice and pretty) from Uncle Lou and Aunt Arlene! She was so excited :)Thanks again Lou and Arlene!!
While we had the camera out, we also got some cute photos of Madeline with her "Twas the Night Before Christmas" bear. She loves that thing.

Springfield, here we come!

Yesterday, Mommy got a job offer from Ozark Anesthesia Associates, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, MO. YAY! Today, Mommy had to tell her boss and friends at Barnes that she won't be staying here. BOO-HOO! We'll be moving in the middle of August, and we'll definitely be getting a house with a pimped-out guest room so that we will be ready for lots of visitors :)

Sitting with Santa

This afternoon, we joined CJ, Mary and Naomi at Westport to visit Santa Clause. After waiting over an hour in line:
Madeline got to say HI to St. Nicholas for the first time! She did great... but I'm prepared for lots of screaming and crying next year :)

6 month update

Madeline is now a whole half year old! Amazing. She had her 6 month visit with Dr. Spewak this morning, and everything is groovy. She is now 14 pounds, 14 ounces (25th percentile) and 26.5 inches (75th percentile). So, as the pediatrician says, "she is long and lean."

Eating with a spoon

Madeline started eating with a spoon - sort of! She tried rice cereal a couple of times this week, but I could not guarantee that she actually ate any of it :) Today, she tried sweet potatoes and I'm pretty sure that she did swallow a few bites, even though quite a bit of it made it onto her face, hands, and the bib instead:

Breaking the rules

Madeline started off the day wearing this cute outfit. It says "all I want for Christmas is my auntie," but she had a poop explosion during her morning nap. I wish she would have just told me that she doesn't want to wear Christmas clothes before Thanksgiving!

The Grand Canyon

Jasmine's Dad, Gordon, planned a trip for a bunch of us up to the Grand Canyon on a nice tour bus! Here are some pictures from our evening there. I found it very challenging to open my eyes while looking into the sun:
Madeline had a good time hanging out in the Baby Bjorn:
A funny picture of the Rowe brothers and their grandchildren (and Steven and me):
Madeline pooped out approximately 5 seconds after I set her down on the bed:
This morning, Ed and I walked up and down the "south rim" trail. It was a nice day, and of course beautiful scenery:We actually had 3 nice volunteers take our picture for us, but apparently they were unable to use a digital camera :) So, here is one that we took ourselves:
